Human Garden

Sift through a crumbling cluster of planets for what remains of humanity. Carry humans around on comets and return them to their sleeping chambers dead or alive. Preferably alive, but oxygen is unforgiving.

This game was made for the GMTK game jam by The Water Museum and Cameron Ginex

Known issues:

  • Screen is black for 5-10 seconds on first opening the game. The game has not crashed, It is just loading all shaders and particle systems, I just forgot to add some sort of loading indicator.
  • Restart messes up the pause menu... Don't use it

This is an interesting idea, but I struggled a lot with moving the humans accurately / depth perception. Having a way to pull humans or trees closer to the camera would be handy. Maybe there already is and I missed it. I know there is a way to throw forward.

Love the concept though!

Love the concept! But I cannot play so much, the game run really slow on my computer. Please add some sort of graphics options - my specs for reference: win 11, corei7-930, 24gb ram,  gtx 1660

What a strange but beautiful game!
I found the controls quite difficult as well as the other feedback. Also, the music volume seemed low. I could hear it fine when I was very close to the inhabited planet. But I couldn't hear the ending song.
I felt sorry for the humans suffering from the lack of oxygen, but I also felt a little funny. How cruel of me...
It was so funny that while they were trying to plant trees on the comet and load a large number of humans on it to return to their home planet, another comet was attracted and hit it and humans became extinct, meow~!

Good: everything but the controls.

Bad: the controls. Having A & D to move sideways but W & S to zoom made things very complicated, a lot of my humans died because i threw them by accident and couldn't save them because my camara angle wasn't good.
Also, some humans got stuck to the ground for some reason and became useless.

Thanks for the feedback! The controls seem to be a sticking point for a lot of people. Do you think there is a better way it should be handled? Plan on updating the game after the jam voting ends

I think it would be a lot easier if we could select the planet or comet with right click and hold to make it rotate instead of using it to look around. And maybe force the player to rotate things by making the humans walk around? loving the weird games, maybe we're just not used to weird controls lol

I Love You

most of the humans under my care did not make it, sadly... so i didn't manage to fill up all the slots in the shelter and eventually just ran out of stuff to do. is there any sort of end condition here?

sick game though, and i actually thought it was rather tense and not relaxing. between having to wrestle with controls, dodging stray comets and trees slowly dying during travel, there's a surprising amount of things that can go wrong!

Hey!Just need to fill up the chamber with humans , dead or alive, and then close it to complete the game.

Thank you for playing regardless! Means a ton

wow, and i just left all of them out there to float in the void until the end of time :(

Intriguing and relaxing, love the mood of the game.

I've sent so many stuff flying all over the place because of missed clicks tho.
